Sea Shells by the Sea Shore

While staying along the gulf coast, a strong cold front came in from the north and stirred up the gulf waters. The temperature dropped and the wind blew increasing the churning of the waves. Areas of the beach were covered with a coating of fine white sand that appeared like white frost from the north. We were intrigued at the number of different shells and water life that was washed ashore. Those hunting for shells had a wonderful experience in finding their treasure.

When the sun goes down ......

We want to share the amazing sunsets we were gifted with each evening while staying at Treasure Island Beach Club Resort. A strong cold front from the north impacted the weather in Florida with cooler temperatures. The storms brought change in the water, clouds, and the sky. Each sunset was unique in itself. Taken from our resort's beach on December 8th to December 21st, we hope you enjoy each evening's sunset as much as we did.

Our Christmas Greeting

MERRY CHRISTMAS AND
A JOYOUS HOLIDAY SEASON!

We wish a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to our family, friends, and the many new acquaintances we have made in our travels. We are enjoying our trip and want to share with each of you the spirit of the season. It is interesting to replace the white snow of the Midwest with the white sand of Florida. May each of you enjoy this Christmas Season.

East Beach Kite Boarders

We had a warm and windy day while at East Beach, located in Ft. De Soto Park. These conditions brought out numerous kite boarders to test their skills in the choppy surf. In the backdrop is Skyway Bridge that crosses Tampa Bay. The high winds made for spectacular kite boarding with some boarders being carried high into the air. We enjoyed watching the colorful kites and the impressive manuvers the boarders were able to make.

Fort De Soto Park, Florida

On Florida's west coast at the southern tip of the Pinellas Peninsula, lies Mullet Key. This island is situated at the mouth of Tampa Bay. In 1877 the Army Board of Engineers recommended Mullet Key be retained as the site for fortifications to protect the shipping channel into Tampa Bay. The fort was active for many years and in 1963 was dedicated as a county park. In 1977 the park was placed on the National Register of Historic Places. North Beach, located in Ft. De Soto park, was named America's #1 beach in 2005.
