Kananaskis Country

Took a day to tour Kananaskis Country on Highway 40 south of Canmore. This area has 10 Provincial Parks and dozens of recreation areas. It is part of the Canadian Rocky Mountains. We stopped and visited with National Park employees who are attempting to control Pine Beetles that are threatening the pine forests in Canada. We observed the damage to the pines as we traveled across British Columbia and these employees are treating with insecticide and burning affected trees in Alberta to control the spread of the beetle. The area has colorful paint horses, flowers and majestic mountain views like the one at Wedge Pond.
