The harvesting of wild blue berries is occurring at this time. The season is about two weeks in length. The fields are of many types of terrain. The more hilly fields will be harvested with hand picking and manual sweeps. The tractor in this field was in Maine last week and now is in Nova
Scotia harvesting the berries. The swath is 34 inches in width and they drive 1 mph. Pictured are 4,000 lbs of blue berries in trays that will picked up by the processing plant. The crop is short this year and the price is up, currently at $1.50 per pound.
