"Beachcomber Celebration" - Waldport, OR

The weekend we stayed at Waldport, OR, they were celebrating their town festival, called "Beachcomber Days". We enjoyed taking part in the activities, parade, chicken BBQ, strawberry shortcake, car show and bed races. The berries shown are Salmon Berries that are growing wild by our campground. They are like black or red raspberries in Iowa. Very tasty with a little sugar and a bowl of ice cream. Have been agate hunting on the beach, whale watching at Depoe Bay (saw 5 whales even with a tail fluke) and clam digging at Alsea Bay. The activities of the area are different on the coast. Also note the horse in the parade is wearing a bikini with sun glasses. Should have kept my 1969 GTO when I look at the one in the car show. Note the personal license plate on the GTO. Lots of fun for the small community. Glad we were here to enjoy.
