Left Canada for a couple of weeks and returned to the ranch in Montana. Have enjoyed the scenery of the Sweet Grass Hills area where the ranch is located in north central Montana along the Canadian border. Was able to attend the selling of steer calves via video auction on Dish Network from Billings, MT. We are learning the ranching life style with being able to help make hay for wintering the cattle, doing some fence repair, and helping with some painting. Big Sky country is definitely the correct description of the ranch location. We are able to hear coyotes in the early evening, have deer in the ranch yard, and watch antelope cross the pastures. It is extremely hot and dry with this being the hottest July on record. This does create some concern for grass fires from lightning strikes from the dry thunder storms. It also gives us some nice sunset views with temperatures dropping in the evening. We have wonderful friends hosting us at the ranch.
