Each evening around 5:30 PM the birds, parrots, woodpeckers, Muscovy ducks and parakeets become active, searching for food and locating a resting spot for the night. The activity continues for about an hour and a half and then all is quiet for the evening. Each spring hundreds of different bird species migrate in the Rio
Grande Valley. Brownsville is the southern beginning of the Texas Coastal Birding Trail. While
barbecuing, the birds are in the palm trees finding kernels to eat and fruit to open. The flowers are
continuously in bloom and the trees sway in the wind. Walking to the small island at the resort, always gives us a view of the many species of birds, turtles and snakes. It is
truly a bird watchers paradise.
