We are three months into our trip and have logged over 6,000 miles. The Great Lake area is rugged with open expanses of water with the terrain being rock base. At Sault Ste. Marie we walked the board walk to view the locks. The 1000 foot ships come through the locks that divide lakes Superior and Huron. The long building beside the ship houses the largest hydro-electric plant in the United States.

The shoreline is beautiful around the lakes. Looks like you had great weather. 6000 down and how many to go???
This is the area we travelled several years ago when we did the north shore loop. We watched the lock from the USA side. Very interesing. Seen anymore bears!
